My name is Jon Zetlmaier.  I started as a stockbroker in 1997 straight from the University of Washington with a BA in Economics.  I was always fascinated with investments.  Maybe it was watching the old movies “Wall Street” or “Trading Places” at way too young of an age that inspired me.  Needless to say, the seed was planted early.  The problem is that I grew up in a working class household, and we didn’t have investments.  Pensions were the primary retirement plans and 401ks were just about to gain in popularity.

As I got into the business it was evident that the people who succeeded had some sort of connection to get them over the first few hurdles.  If you had an uncle or a cousin who could invest a few hundred thousand, that was good enough to keep you around for a while.  Without moneyed ties I had to work extra hard and eventually burned out.  I wasn't a particularly good salesman.  So, I bounced around different financial services jobs trying to find my niche until I finally got lucky.  Over time ZWM was formed through a few iterations.  Now ZWM is wholly independent, allowing me to realize my vision of creating a financial services firm that breaks the mold: fees that are fairer to the client, and unsurpassed personal service.​

I work or have done work with professional athletes, doctors, lawyers, tech sector employees, nurses, engineers, and government employees.  I have extensive experience with the Washington State Employees Pension systems: PERS, PSERS, LEOFF…  I also have experience working with the Boeing retirement plan and Federal Employee retirements, FERS and TSP.
